From studying the image above, it is clear that this is an polysemic picture, as i can interpret many different meanings through this one image. The image denotes that London is very picturesque and connotes that it has a great nightlife and is a very popular city.

It is most likely to be found in a travel/tourist magazine as from this one shot we can see the popular nightlife of the city of London, and it shows London in a positive light, we can also indentify many of the tourist attractions within London such as the London Eye, Houses of Paliarment, Big Ben and the River Thames. It could possibly also be found in leaflets and posters to promote tourism to the area. It would also be easily found on the Internet, Google images is where i found the picture and is a site frequently used worldwide, and London being such a well known city, it would be found without difficulty.

The picture is likely to be taken by a photographer, because the picture has been taken at night it has probably been taken for a tourist magazine to show how attractive London is at night, as opposed to a business magazine to show the industrial side of London, as they would more likely be shot during the day. The image would be taken to promote London and to show people and tourists London on a large scale.

In 2400, a historian would look back at this picture and denote that London was very popular with many tourist attractions. He/she could learn that the society we live in today involves a lot of industry and business related matters as from the images we can interpret that there is industries on the River Thames and obviously London itself. 

 
This is a portrait image is of Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick and their child, Mason Dash. The shot has been taken in New York, by a paparazzi, it seems. The image captures a street in New York and the normal day life of others, however we can see they are interested in what is going on as they are staring towards the camera. From the surroundings in the picture, we can connote that the celebrity couple are just out doing their everyday thing, just under the eye of a camera. This tells us that celebrities act the same as us and do the same things everyone needs to do.
The couple are not posing, as they are walking, they look as though they are a little bothered by the picture being taken as Kourtney's head is down however, they also look as though they are used to the paparazzi always around them.
They are all wearing casual clothes, but no doubt they are designer; Kourtney is wearing Paige Premium boyfriend jeans.
Neither of the two are making any gestures but carrying on with the day, even with the paparazzi around them.
They are not really making any expression as they are just walking however with the head down of Kourtney Kardashian she looks as though she trying to ignore the shot being taken. From the picture we can understand that celebrities are just regular people like us, and i do think it is true as this image proves it.

Images surround us, they are made to be seen by someone. Images are easily produced and can be readily made on cameras.

Understanding visual codes- images have different meanings which we can understand through their visual clues. You have to be familiar with the visual codes to understand. Here are the 5 visual codes: expression, gesture, clothing, objects/background and technique. If you take a continually take pictures, they will form a narrative; this is called a sequence.

Storyboards are what film-makers use to plan their films. A storyboard is a series of pictures in the right order to give the right message or tell the right story.

Captions are words that go underneath the picture to explain what is going on. They can effect the way people view the picture.

The selection of a image is very important, as it has to create a particular point.

Cropping is the cutting off parts of a original picture. It allows the audience to focus on a particular area.

Stereotyping can sometimes cause controversy eg. 'sex stereotyping' as they contribute into believing women should not be interest in careers but be sexy, passive and innocent.

The objective of advertising images is to create a dream world, it is carefully constructed to get across the message required. 

School pictures.

This image is a midshot of two people having a conversation. It is clear from there facial expressions that they are happy as they are laughing and have big smiles on their face this connotes positivity.

This image shows a sign, however we cannot specifically understand the meaning, as it could mean to go up or to go forward. Therefore this logo is polysemic as we can interpret different meaning without a caption.

When we zoom out of the images we can see that the arrow means straight forward, as it is showing the direction of the fire exit.

This is also a midshot of two people, however in this situation their facial expressions and body language is different. From their positions it looks as though they are having an argument as they do not seem impressed with each other.

This is a negative image of the school. It makes the corridor look daunting as it is empty. however the light at the end of the corridor connotes hope.

This shot portrays the school in a positive light. The images involves a picturesque setting, and the natural sunlight adds to the positive atmosphere.
